"Too Tall" for heels/wedges?

The other day I wore sandals to school. They have around a 2-inch wedge on them. In homeroom a girl I'm sort of friends with loudly said to another girl "Why is she wearing heels? She's too tall for them!" ^_^ I'm only around 5'8. Is that really too tall for wedges (or heels, when I'm a little older and ready to wear them)?
